Your game configurartion files may not be set up correctly, go to the steam cliet, select library, all software and lanch SFM, when the launch window opens, select launch SDK. When the SDK window opens select reset game configurations. Say ok to the 2 prompts. Once that is done, shut down staem and reboot the computer. just to be sure that the new configurations take. Then try to launch SFM again.

is Steam open or are you logged in to Steam via an internet browser?

This exact same problem is happening to me...
Is this happening to everyone else?
Pte Jack try checking yours and see if it works.

Mine is running fine... Try to start SFM in offline mode. add -nosteam to the launch options. It may be a steam server glitch.

Did not work.
P.S. The file path is C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\SourceFilmmaker\game\bin\filesystem_stdio.dll

Hmmm, might be time for a validation of the local cache then.

Care to elaborate?

Steam Client, Library, all Software, SFM Right Click, Properties, Local Files Tab, Validate Local Application Cache.

Let the process finish, any corrupted or missing files will be reaquired...

Okay, it's starting. Tell you how it works in an hour.

I think it worked because SFM is updating...

EDIT:
IT WORKED!
