Whatever
Why is Source Filmmaker over complicated? So many ideas and I cannot produce anything because this thing not only is it over complicated; I can't even grasp little concepts because this thing messes up even on the little-ish of tasks.

Watch the official tutorials... You can actually work a long with them because the tutorial DMX scene files are on your computer in your Sourcefilmmaker\game\tf_movies\elements\sessions\tutorial folder

Start simple, do posters and get to learn how to pose characters and load them out. Learn how to lock bones and place items in the characters' hands on on their bodies.

Learn how to add particles.

Learn how to edit materials (if they are broken or to make your own)

DON'T go for the custom content that is avaialble out there. Use the K.I.S.S. (Keep It Simple Silly) principal. Start in the shallow end and work your way to the deepend.

Practice, practice, practice. If you don;t understand something watch the tutorial again, if you still don;t understand ask questions here.

Move from poses and posters to small animations.

Then get into bigger animations and learn how to import or make the custom content you need for your project.

Now your ready to take on the big production and win a Saxxy....

We've all gone through the growing pains. It all takes time, research and practice!!!

If you're wondering why there are professions dedicated to 3D production, that's the reason.
