URGENT! Stormy Storm particle effect doesn't work properly, please help me!
The clouds are okay, but the raindrops has no texture, or at least it's something wrong with them.
It looks like this:

Guys, when posting requests like this, please include the PCF file and the actual particle name so we can find it faster!!!

Oh, I'm sorry Pte Jack, it's in the item_fx.pcf of course and the name is unusual_storm.

Sorry Symmetry, It seems to display ok on my system... I thought I was seeing what you are at first. I went into the PCF Editor and changed the vmt for the unual_rain to tp_spark.vmt found that that didn't work, changed it back to spark.vmt and loaded the particle in SFM, this is what I end up with...

Seems fine to me... Maybe changing the vmt to something else then back again straightened it out, IDK...

Thanks for your quick answer! Firstly I thought the problem is with the xy _add.vmt as you and R234 cleverly figured out, but I found no similar wmt in this effect. I'll keep experimenting, cause I still don't know what causes that strange texture on my computer. Btw, all the other particle effect works well.

Today I checked other particles too and all the sparks and droplets have these strange "null" textures :S

I went looking for the effects/spark.vmt that this particle uses and could not find it. the closest I could find was effects\tp_spark.vmt. Then I found the build_file_cache.txt file. the spark.vmt is a HL2 effects material ... I found the vmt in the SteamApps\common\SourceFilmmaker\game\hl2\materials\effects folder. When I opened it (spark.vmt) I found that the $additive command is in it. Try commenting out that command and restart SFM and reload your project. (Not sure if the mat_reloadallmaterials console command works on particles) See if that fixes the problem.

Wow, that's just not right!!! It works fine in my environment. I saw your post on the laptop and see that you are using a nvidia card, Are you sure SFM is using that or do you have one of those marvelous dual chipped laptops and SFM is still using the hd3000/4000 chip?

Of course I use the dedicated GT635m, but now I'll figure it out for myself what causes this problem, don't waste your time on this topic. Btw I fixed it temporarily. I loaded the cloud, then I added manually the blood rain and the thunderbolt effects, and I colored the blood rain white. It looks the same as the unusual_rain. You can see the result in this picture: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=268233551

Hmmm, may be a custom material that you've loaded somewhere, maybe??

The rain looks fine on my end too.

Strangely enough, as Jack said, the $additive line is in the VMT, but the $translucent one isn't. From what I could tell from some other particles, that caused issues, but in this case the particle works fine... Regardless, maybe you can try adding $translucent 1, could fix your issue...

I'm surprised removing $additive didn't break the material for you, Jack. Logically it should. And in fact, for me it does: http://i.imgur.com/hsC1bzt.jpg

Strange... Let me check, maybe I did not save the vmt after editing.
Pte Jack 8 czerwca 2014 o 10:15
Nope, this is my vmt

"UnlitGeneric"
{
// Original shader: AddTexture
"$basetexture" "effects/spark"
"$brightness" "effects/spark_brightness"
// "$additive" 1
"$vertexcolor" 1
}

and here is the effect
