error copying animations from model to model
okay, so I loaded up a spy, gave him a hood and a sharp dresser, then I brought up a combine_guard thingy and gave him the walk sequence. I went into the motion editor on the combine and right clicked then pressed copy samples.I went to the spy on the motion editor, right clicked the motion editor and pressed paste samples.
then the spy was in the same place as the combine and moved in the same direction as the combine did, but he remained in civilian pose!! I wanted the spy to walk, but he just stands with his body in default position, moving with the combine. his legs and arms are in default position! remaining still!!

You can't copy samples to a model with different bone structure and / or bone names. Doing so will either not work at all, or horribly deform the character. You need to use this method instead: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6W2PamTlSYQ&list=UU-qkWBQi0MIYPGhBz3xzb5A

oh no....I was hoping I wouldn't have to use that method...I saw that video way back, but I never thought I would need to use that method.

Hm... Well, there's also this: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=216464518&searchtext=animation I believe it's compatible with all Valve models. it's still good to get used to the manual way though, in case you end up wanting to transfer animations on models that aren't supported by the puppet script.
