Blade Symphony offered as a DLC pack for SFM
Hey guys. I know many of you are excited about the Portal and TF2 content available for SFM. Hopefully everyone is putting on their creative caps for the Saxxy Awards.

Just wanted to let everyone know, that along with offering Blade Symphony as a DLC pack for SFM, we're giving away a copy of the game and an in-game item to our team's personal overall favorite usage of Blade Symphony assets. You can find more details here: http://www.blade-symphony.com/2014/07/first-non-valve-content-pack-for-4th-annual-saxxy-awards

We're doing our best to track these forums, and we'll try and throw in some updates to the DLC pack to include more content for you folks. Please feel free to ask questions if you feel like we can answer them!

kind of a shame that people only have 2 months to throw something together with this new content.

It doesn't seem like much, but hopefully some people work well under pressure.

Wanted to personally thank you guys for offering your content to us. Getting more, and varied, content is always welcome, but getting official support from a company is even cooler. It's very much appreciated.

If you'd like suggestions on possible updates I can say that maps are a huge plus, also particles and props for scene builds will never be turned away.

Either way I do hope we see some great videos and posters come from this pack. and this offer. :)

Hi all,
I'm in the process of trying to port our maps and particles, we definitely want to include more swords, masks and sounds as well.

I'm away for a few days but will be back with a progress update sometime next week.

I imported all the content from the game folder into SFM a while back, before the DLC launched.

As far as maps go, the only changes that'd really be needed from the shipped BS files are rebuilding cubemaps from within SFM (existing ones can be a little funky) and recompiling duel_temple (the shipped BSP crashes SFM during load at some point). Adding a TF2 player spawn (info_player_teamspawn) to ensure the camera starts inside the map would be nice, but is optional.

Sounds: Everything seems to be in order except the music (should you choose to include it), which needs to be converted from FLAC to WAV. Maybe some renaming where filenames conflict with TF2.

Granted, you're the developer and probably have "right" ways to do these things. Just thought I'd give a heads-up :)

Hi, guys sorry I've been away for a while, but I have a progress update.

So I've been working had on importing our maps, it turned out that Temple, Monastery and District were crashing hammer on .vmf load. I've now fixed those issues, and will get the maps, .vmfs and as much of the other content as I possibly can on our github, so users can grab them asap (I'll let you know where and when you can find a link for them).

I need to speak to Valve about getting this new content into our DLC.

Here's some pictures of the maps working in the lastest version of SFM:

Hello, the following assets I've been working on for our next submission to the SFM team, you can get the files early and also help test for any issues I may have missed.

The Maps, Materials, Models and Particles can all be found on our Github page (linked below), you will definitely need the models, as they have been edited in order for the maps to work:

The map .vmf files can be found here (optional):

Very nice, thank you.

let you know, the vmf link is broken

Should be fixed now.

They all work great as far as I can see. no missing models or textures or anything. and I love the reflective floor in the practice map. does some odd things with AO but thats sfm. Just glad someone used reflectivity.

Hello again.

I've added four more maps to our github, we have free_ maps which are similar to the duel maps but have more accessible areas that were designed for game play. Two of the maps have time of day changes.
