Quick question about the saxxy submission-system.
In september we will be able to actually submit any saxxy entries. I suppose the menu point "submit video to the saxxies" will be added around that time. Now I noticed that the rules of the saxxies say that you can use a post-production to work on the sfm video after it's rendered. So that means when in about 40 days I'll open the menu point "submit video to the saxxies", I will be able to chose which video I want to submit from my harddrive. Just to make clear, I don't have to like import the post production video into source filmmaker or anything...

No, you don't choose a video from your harddrive (I believe). (I believe) you choose a video you uploaded on YouTube during the 17th-24th September period.

For the past two years, SFM has had a magical Saxxy submission button that allowed you to upload any video on your hard drive as long as it was a certain type (.mp4, .mov and one other).
Entries must be submitted using the Source Filmmaker's Submit Video to Saxxy Awards menu option.

So, yes, you do have to chose the video from your hard drive, which makes sense especially if you need to edit it in an outside program.

Well, I've been told by a friend it was picking a video one uploaded on YouTube. Oh, well.

TBH, I wish it was that way. SFM only allows you to upload three video types: .mp4, .mpeg, and .mov, all of which are not exactly ideal (at least, not in my opinion).

lucky for those of us that tend to use mp4 export only. :3

Oh. Okay. No Saxxy Awards for me ever, then.

mp4 FTW!

Also, what post processing programs you guys going to use?
I'll be using Adobe's Premier Pro & a little bit of Adobe's After Effects.

I'll be using VirtualDub to stitch the images together and include the audio, like I do with all my videos, and then Windows Live Movie Maker to compress the uncompressed AVI from VirtualDub into a WMV to allow it to upload very quickly, like I do with all my videos.

I'll use microsoft paint to make a sick comic sans intro.

If you take a look at [below], can you even see I used Windows Live Movie Maker?

Edit: Also, Steam likes to off-sync YouTube videos, and show them in low framerates as well.

How do I upload a submission?
Submissions are all uploaded from the Source Filmmaker. From the File menu in the SFM, select "Community", then "Submit Video to Saxxy Awards". You'll be prompted first for your YouTube login and password (don't worry, this info isn't stored) and then for some details about your submission (title, description, etc.).

you can still use whatever video, you just have to upload it to youtube through sfm.

Dunno what the issue with mp4 is. you hardly notice a difference, especially once it get to youtube where there is no difference, and especially if the scenes are fairly bright.
