keyframing issue
I am trying to have a mag drop out of scouts pistol but if i move anything after a keyframe it edits a curve before another frame. to show in text
What i want to happen:
*Keyframe idle* mag stays in gun *keyframe for animation start* mag moves into scouts other hand *keyframe end position*
What happens:
*Keyframe Idle* Mag moves randomly through the gun *keyframe for animation start* mag moves into scouts other hand *keyframe end position*

I don't know why this happens. i always thought that the next keyframes couldn't influence a past keyframe so i am confused.

Your methodology sounds right, I can't quite see what may be causing you problems.
Are there other animations that this could possibly be conflicting with?

the only other way it could conflict would be the idle animation of the arms. still i currently fixed it by adding another keyframe before the animation start keyframe.

Select the keyframes and hit 2 for "flat" curves. If this isn't enough, copy some of the "idle" keyframes and move them along to slightly before keyframes with (intended) movement.

This is normally how I do it, add a 'blank' keyframe then add another keyframe for the actual start of the animation and a finishing keyframe, plus whatever I may need in the middle for the animation itself.

just since i dont want to post another discussion. I now seem to have an issue with the magazine if i add a new keyframe. I made the magazine slide into the gun again and wanted to correct the magazine as its inside the gun but if i add a new keyframe anywhere after the last one the magazine will go all over the place instead of following the hand.

If I'm understanding you correctly, then you definitely DO NOT want to do it that way. Rather, re-edit its positioning on the existing keyframe where it enters the gun fully...

I'd have to correct it with the hand bone then since i locked the hand bone to the mag to move it easily before. the last keyframe was back when i locked it to the hand.
