Linux: one frame per minute on Kubuntu with NVidia?
Something is clearly amiss and for the 1 buck spent I can't expect much support, but maybe someone can help me.

I'm on Kubuntu 12,04, with this cpu and graphics:
Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU E8200 @ 2.66GHz
01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: NVIDIA Corporation NV44 [GeForce 6200 LE] (rev a1)

On startup, I get sound and, at first, a black screen. After some time, about one minute at 100% CPU usage, the first image appears. Select "offline". About one minute later with black screen (still at 100% CPU) the next menu appears. Select Video options. Since about 10 minutes I try to scale down the resolution or effects or whatever to make this responsive. No luck so far.

Agreed, this machine is not state of the art any more and aging, but is it really the hardware or is anything else wrong that I can fix? Any suggestions? Thanks.
