The beginning was the worst part for me because I couldn't understand how to fight in the proper way, and died tens of times, but then it got better. The game doesn't punish you for dying anyway, as you'll just drop your money in that place, respawn in the last checkpoint and then have the possibility to pick up your stuff if you go back to where you died.
There's lots of small and bigger things that they could have done better, but once you get used to it, you won't have many problems advancing.
The best thing about this game is the dialogues anyway, at least for me. They are funny and well dubbed, and it's probably the only thing that keeps me playing the game.
(Also, I'm kinda bitter that we had to kill Madame Prim on 2nd game)
I'd understand this question if you hadn't already bought it, but you did, so.....instead of waiting for others to type up their opinions why don't you boot up the game and form your own?
(1 Month Necro, yay~)
I just feel the DeathSpank games shine as melee button mashers with combos and charged weaponry. The Baconing dropped this completely. The combo attacks are gone and don't incentivize you to hang on to lesser weaponry for uber combs
The game world is especially linear in The Baconing. It does not seem so bad since the series is not terribly deep or with true non-linearity, but it is to the point that the game feels meaningless. The fact that each thong burning cutscene in The Baconing is actually the same cutscene with a slight tweaking of the colors and you can't but feel that the third DS was a rushed product on a tight budget.
The Baconing is a disappointing end to the series, but I would recommend the first DeathSpank to anyone. Those that enjoy DS1 are encouraged to try DS:ToV, but I didn't find ToV worth playing to the end.
So it's the buggiest, but still my favorite.
