How good is this game?
I got this game a long time ago in the indie bundle pack and haven't really played it. Is it any good?

I'm 4 hours into it and I have mixed feelings.

The beginning was the worst part for me because I couldn't understand how to fight in the proper way, and died tens of times, but then it got better. The game doesn't punish you for dying anyway, as you'll just drop your money in that place, respawn in the last checkpoint and then have the possibility to pick up your stuff if you go back to where you died.

There's lots of small and bigger things that they could have done better, but once you get used to it, you won't have many problems advancing.

The best thing about this game is the dialogues anyway, at least for me. They are funny and well dubbed, and it's probably the only thing that keeps me playing the game.

This game is fantastic, IMO...all the DeathSpank games are. They are overlooked games and I don't understand why. Anyway, yeah, the very beginning of the game are the hardest for whatever reason and I died too many times and almost gave up. I stuck with it though and now I got the hang of it, I'm not sure why it was so hard. BUY IT!!

It's the same Deathspank with the same crash-to-desktop bug. I seem kinda bored of both, for it gives me no fun.

TOV was better IMO, this one is a bit washed down. At least the voice acting is sublime as always.

DeathSpank 1 and 2 were cooler imo. I spent much more time playing them until the end than this one. At least the ending of this one is cooler than 2nd one. The Baconing also felt more like following a straight path, while the other games were more open.
(Also, I'm kinda bitter that we had to kill Madame Prim on 2nd game)

I'd understand this question if you hadn't already bought it, but you did, so.....instead of waiting for others to type up their opinions why don't you boot up the game and form your own?

(1 Month Necro, yay~)

I'm gonna necro this as well. If you're looking for AAA gameplay like DeathSpank 1 and "2" then you miiiight get a bit disappointed. But it's a good game, it's a bit wonky at times and it's prone to crashing if you alt+tab but it's still a good game with the same style of humour which I love. So yeah, if you already got the game then boot it up and play, and if you're looking to buy it well... atleast wait for a sale or something.

For me 1 and 2 is AAA game. I wish all AAA game would be like TOV with extra cut scenes !!

Personally, I love the sense of humour this game has. So yeah, give it a try!

I didn't feel The Baconing was as solid of an experience as the first two DeathSpanks. I loved the first one and was excited to see what the next two held. ToV (2) troubled me with the guns and long-ranged weaponry.

I just feel the DeathSpank games shine as melee button mashers with combos and charged weaponry. The Baconing dropped this completely. The combo attacks are gone and don't incentivize you to hang on to lesser weaponry for uber combs

The game world is especially linear in The Baconing. It does not seem so bad since the series is not terribly deep or with true non-linearity, but it is to the point that the game feels meaningless. The fact that each thong burning cutscene in The Baconing is actually the same cutscene with a slight tweaking of the colors and you can't but feel that the third DS was a rushed product on a tight budget.

The Baconing is a disappointing end to the series, but I would recommend the first DeathSpank to anyone. Those that enjoy DS1 are encouraged to try DS:ToV, but I didn't find ToV worth playing to the end.

Don't know what is disappointing about The Baconing. I've finished DS1 and DS:ToV, now playing The Baconing, whole series is pretty much similar experience.

This is my favorite DeathSpank game so far (although I absolutely hated Thongs of Virtue, so take that as you will). Every single complaint I had with the first two was fixed, and I really like the new reflection mechanic. That said, this is the only game of the three where the game has crashed or frozen for me.

So it's the buggiest, but still my favorite.
