Why M?

It's kind of bloody. I personally think it should be T but if TF2 is M then Smashball is M.

Give him a break. Maybe he's just curious. I'm also curious as to what it would be rated.

Speaking of which, what determines the difference between "blood" and "blood and gore?" Is it something about the shading of the red color etc?
What about what makes the difference between violence and intense violence? Planetside 2 can, at times, have far more intense action that TF2, but it's rated T for violence, not intense violence.

I'm curious about things like this too.
