hur hur hur, It's been asked countless times before (well, like 2 or 3), but knocking on heaven's door left us without response. Asking again wouldn't hurt.

I tried to find the posts which mentionned this but failed to find them :(

they had already delevoped most of the vehicle stuff and took it out in the last moment cuz they didn't like the way the game was gonna turn out, so ik for sure its there. when i was editing the ctx files i game across vehicle scripts linking to models.

Vehicles were removed because Source is not exactly the go-to engine for vehicular simulation. Specifically, the bandwidth commanded by vehicle transmission was fine via LAN but too strenuous on average internet. This means either IW needs to recode the entire system/optimise parts of it to consume less bandwidth or the average internet speed needs to be greater tenfold.

Still, the models for the vehicules could be used as static props for mapping, I don't believe they currently are on the SDK files, are they?

... could the vehicle "content" that was started be released so if someone wanted to make a mod out of it they could? not as in offically add vehicles to the game. not like IW is going to pull out vehicles anyways, by that time source were to revamp their stuff, nuclear dawn would be a dead game anyways.

source servers being optimized and everyone getting cable/fibe internet is never going to happen. if your planning to add it to the game someday. ns2 was in the making for 5 years and only achieved 1 core and 2 threads... back to sourcemod coding and editing ctx files i guess, if jetpacks and parachutes can be done, vehicles can to.

The mechanics underlying those two can't be compared. In fact it wouldn't even be like comparing apples to oranges. It'd more like comparing apples to bags of flour. Jetpacks and parachutes work per-player, modulating some simple variables. The vehicles in Nuclear Dawn are quite complex, featuring suspension, axel torque, inverse tread kinematics, etc. That's a lot of data to manage. Then you factor in vehicles having the ability to fire, stored ammunition, machinegun-overheat, how many passengers are inside, the positional orientation of the passengers, so on, so forth.

And it's been stressed many, many times -- Source just isn't the right engine for vehicles. It's got a lot of other nice features like modularity and facial animation (such a shame the player models in ND don't use that!), but Source seriously lacks in the "moving machines of death" department. Just go try Empires mod vehicles for ten minutes. They really tried their best at optimising the vehicular combat for that game and it still has problems. Don't get me wrong, EmpMod is an excellent piece of work, but I think it basically says loud and clear that ground-based vehicle movement, prediction, and simulation just doesn't work well in Source.

But who knows? Maybe one day it'll happen. As much as I would love for vehicles to be added not just for myself but also for the game in acting as a major "wow" factor, it shouldn't be about what ND doesn't have, it should be about what it does have.

So we have no chance of ever getting vehicles?

seems like they are waiting for source to improve their engine so that can be added to the game, otherwise they would have given out the materials to be modded.
