Wishlist for Skirmish Gamemode
Having played a little bit of the Skirmish gamemode added in 6.8, there are a few things that I noticed that in my view, could be improved upon. Note that all of these suggestions are purely intended for Skirmish, and not at all meant for the Warfare Gamemode.
  • Matches end far too suddenly. You are fighting, and then all of a sudden, it is over. Perhaps this could be partially alleviated by playing a music track used in the main menu when one team gets within 10% of the Kill limit. The really ideal solution would be an announcer saying "Consortium victory in 10 kills" "In 5 kills", and so on.
  • Several features of the radio stop having a function - Request Artillery, Need Supplies and Need Orders. To that end, I propose that these be replaced with the following vocal commands: Need Supplies replaced with Need Ammo, Request Artillery replaced with Thanks and Need Orders replaced with Reloading.
  • I found myself running out of ammo fairly constantly - I understand that this is to be partially helped by teammates playing the Engineer class, but something that may help this further is when you kill an opponent, you can pick up their weapon to restore 10% of your primary weapon's ammo. Ammo picked up through this method would only go up to the amount that you spawn with, so ammokits could still overstock you.
  • Possibly the most controversial suggestion here - Replace the current ragdoll camera that occurs when you die with one that displays your killer, akin to what you might see in Team Fortress 2. This could possibly be set as both a server cvar and a client cvar. The idea behind this is to try and prevent one player from just hiding in a spot that players might not see, and to help prevent issues where there might be spawncamping, so when players spawn again they know exactly where the player who killed them was.
That is about all I've got in mind in ways I could see the gamemode being improved upon - Feel free to share any thoughts on these suggestions, or suggest your own. I shall also post this on the Interwave forums, to try and get a wider field of opinion.

While I like killcam, I personally love the ragdoll camera, mostly because it's original.
However, that may just be me.

Yeah, I like it too, but I believe for newer players it may be an idea to include the other variety, hence the idea behind having it be something server owners could turn off as well as something clients could.

Hmm, could be a little difficult to implement, but they are pretty good at listening to their fans.

Something similar was actually in a pre-beta stage of Nuclear Dawn, as screenshots have been released

my suggestions for skirmish mode would be having something at the start of the round, like a countdown, also something at the end that shows final score and what not. the game seems to end very abruptly right now, maybe a notification when a team is close to winning as well. i would also like to see exp earned in the scoredboard next to the score. the mini map should be made smaller to the boundaries of the map imo. i've noticed when the round ends and a new begins, you have to press enter and pick a class, maybe you should auto spwn, or have the screen automatically come up. another interesting idea would be having a squad spwn system, i don't know if this could be done or work out well.
