Alright, this is a good question.

For anything related to setting up a Nuclear Dawn server, or to know about the dynamics of the game, I strongly suggest you take a look at the Nuclear Dawn wiki: http://forums.interwavestudios.com/wiki/index.php/Main_Page

If you're looking for information on how to command and to learn many of the game tactics, you should watch the tutorials made by End-the-Fed, a member of my ND clan "D^2", on Youtube. Alot of tactics are being explained in there:
http://www.youtube.com/user/NuclearDawnHelp
Seriously, his tutorials are top notch.

You can also watch this video tutorial on buildings made by my good friend Sniv. It's less extensive than End-the-Fed but it's a good overview video:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0wYeW3kSAKQ
If you need help knowing which key to press to perform certain actions/open certain menus/etc., I recommand you do the tutorials which are present in the game. Else a quick look in the Option section will tell you which keys are associated with controls. Else just enter a random server with people, press "Y", ask your question, and somebody will most probably have the answer for you.

Usually to invite people I just activate the Steam window in-game with SHIFT+TAB, then I browse in my friend list until I find the person I want to invite, I click on the arrow next to its name and select "invite to the game".

If none of the resources listed here helped, you can always ask away on the official game forums at: http://forums.interwavestudios.com/

The game also has a 24/7 IRC chatroom at: irc.eu.gamesurge.net #nucleardawn

EDIT: And, because I'm a marketing *****, you can always look for online players in this group: http://steamcommunity.com/groups/cha0s-gaming
Most of them are veteran ND players which know about everything about the game.
And if you ever need to know more than everything, then there might be Juicebox who lurks around these parts alot :)

I followed every step in the ND wiki to set-up an dedicated server on my PC but it doesn't work.
(everything worked well, until I had to start the server with the "ndsrv.exe.... command" steamcmd thinks that the ndsrv.exe command doesn't exist)

Linux or Windows server?
As I recall, steamcmd has nothing to do with the server start. You just have to find the ndsrv.exe on your server files and start it.

All the startup parameters can be setup in the server.cfg file I think.

EDIT: If you're on a Windows server, try entering that command in the run command:
ndsrv.exe -console -game nucleardawn -port 27015 +maxplayers 32 +map downtown

Of course, if you can't find ndsrv.exe at all in your server folders, you should try reinstalling.

(Win7 - 64Bit)

I set-up the parameters in the server.cfg
I choosed the folder with the ndsrv.exe.
I moved the hole game (with subfolders) in the steamcmd directory.
I changed the commands in the console.
I also tried to start steamcmd as an admin but the result is still the same.
....Steamcmd still say that it coudn't find the command ndsrv.exe

feels bad man :/

Those are the steps to running a dedicated server - is that what you wanted, or were you looking to create a listen server, which is hosting a server from your game?
Qatax 13/nov./2012 às 13:24
Yes I wantet to set-up/host a dedicated server^^.

I'm afraid I can't help you much in this regard as I mostly have experience with Linux dedis. Can you find ndsrv.exe by yourself? If not, I think that warrants a full reinstall of the dedicated server files.

If you are attempting to setup a server - Might I just recommend using Didrole's update tool rather than SteamCMD? It's what I use to update my test server on W7x64.

If you simply google search Didrole, the first result should be the site you are looking for. there is a whole bunch of other stuff on there, but the update tool is all you'll really be looking for. You want the one in the .rar archive, as you are running a windows machine.

note that I'd highly recommend not using your primary account for any dedicated server needs - an account that doesn't own any games should work fine for SteamCMD or any update tool, and won't log you out when you go to update servers.

Yep, i can find the ndsrv.exe by myself.

So I tried out Didrole's update tool. and thats also not working. Didrole's update tool just opens and instantly closed itself after about half an second :(

(I also have an old PC with ubuntu on it. So I could try to set-up an dedicated server on that but I don't know the hardware requirements for an ND server and my old pc is very lame)

Are you following the instructions correctly? SteamCMD doesn't start up ndsrv, it only manages the downloading of it.
