Black mesa for Synergy?
Would synergy consider using the mod to play mulitplayer on the new released half life mod called Balck Mesa?

I'm going to say.... NOPE.

I'm pretty sure the two games use completely different versions of the Source engine too

True. I heard that their engine was different. Just a thought because of the upgrades that mod has gotten.

Shame, was hoping for Synergy co op.

Engines the same version. They have a different lighting style and some difference in loading props in their game. We had this planned but. Issues delayed that part of the project so we'll wait for some further info before opening that section again. We're going to try our hand at importing HL1:S into the game completely (In the future) .So synergy can be played from HL1 to EP2.

Sounds good but we all know people are going to be playing Black Mesa now for HL1. If it's not a lot of work, then go for HL1: S, but I really think you should look at BM.

yes i think that black mesa was to be in synergy

Noticing their's a mount for Black Mesa steam version, and when a map is loaded it instantly crashes the game. Any idea why this happens as it didn't in the mod version.

I dug into this on the day of Black Mesa's release. They're using a custom BSP format that is incompatible with all other Source games. (BSP Lump 54 and a few others relating to HDR lighting and static prop rendering have been changed). Disabling HDR and ALL prop rendering allows you to run the map in an obviously non-playable state.

If I recall correctly, the folks at Black Mesa are doing an updated free version and will open source many or all of their code and assets. I talked with them a year or so back and they were ok with Synergy doing the coop but I'm not sure whether if this is still the case but I will talk with them again later.

Regardless, even if the Maps were compatible, Synergy cannot support Black Mesa until their source code becomes publicly available. So our current focus is elsewhere for now.

I don't think it's happening any time soon.

Any update would be appreciated, BMS would be amazing for co op.
It's been about a year and a half since the last Synergy dev commented here. Wondering if any progress has been made?

Time flies! Do you have any further news for us? I know we would all like to see this happen.

Black Mesa is still waiting on Xen to be finished (I've heard they are completely expanding and revamping that part of the game, so it will take a while to do).

Regardless, I would love to COOP with my friends in Black Mesa once it is finished.

Edit - Reading Black Mesa's dev posts... it seems they have their own plans for COOP after the game is finished. Perhaps you guys (Synergy) would be interested in contacting them and asking if they want help? I'm sure they could use your expertise for the COOP mode.
