the game apparently kinda works. when activating VR mode via options menu, the screen shows 2 separated pictures, exactly what you want to have on your headset.
HOWEVER, it is NOT on the headset, but rather on the screen. if you go ingame however, and turn the headset, your character looks around. so now, i have to somehow project what i see on the screen onto my headset. but sadly, oculus got rid of the extended mode a while back.
or so i thought.
after some researching, i came across a little trick that allowed me to use direct mode with the newest runtime, but it didn't helped much, because now the game won't activate the VR mode, with the following error message:
Unable to get VRMode adapter from OpenVR. VR mode cannot be enabled. Try restarting and then enabling VR again.
i had both the oculus runtime running as well as steam vr running. before i managed to extend my desktop onto my headset, steamvr was all fine and dandy, stating i've had a headset connected. after i used my trick, steamvr claimed that i had no headset connected, while the oculus runtime worked just fine.
with a bit of tweaking, i am sure that the dev can easily fix this issue, or rather hotfix it for now so that the split view is activateable even though steamvr isn't activated.
then i could provide my nifty little trick to re-enable extended mode and project it into the rift. but then i worry about the head movement not coupled to the headset...
so yeah. the foundation is there. now you just have to get it onto the headset.
Hi,
i was not referring to the old HL2 VR mod. I talk about this one: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/updates/923491647/
