No controller support?
Having owned and played this game before on PS3, I see there's no controller support for Steam version? What gives EA?

That doesn't mean playing strategy games with a controller is a good idea, because it isn't.

The game worked surprisingly well with a controller (Played both versions), obviously not as good as a M&KB though.

doens't matter if it's a good idea or not, they should at least offer that kind of support if people choose to use a controller or not. It's really your own preference how you want to play the game.

Why would they even bother to cater to, at this point, literally one person?

If you assume just for one person, then you would be wrong.

Alright, I don't believe that, but what advantage is there to playing on a controller other than controllers being less accurate, more fiddly, having less buttons on, and having dodgy control layouts?

Believe whatever you want, I really wouldn't care how less accurate or having less buttons to do things. You fail to to just accept the fact that some people just prefer to use a controller for some games than others. Just becuase it doesn't suit for the way you like to play games as doesn't mean everyone will like it that way. Tbh really more buttons just makes things more confusing to remember what they do. There's nothing wrong with having games that support controllers in general.

ehh… whatever… discussions dead.

If you don't care about controllers being 100% worse than keyboards when playing strategy games, you might as well stop playing strategy games, m8.
