Bought Red Alert 3 yesterday
Bought yesterday and this game is useless to me without online functionality.

I spent hours yesterday trying to sort out my connectivity issues on my router forwarded tones of ports and all in vain once I read via google that the servers are offline FOREVER.

No mention of this is on the store page for this game. I feel I have been mis-sold the game. Why is the game even on sale???! its useless in its current form.

I am totally aware there is an unofficial server with a special launcher but I want to enjoy the game in it's vanilla form.

I am seeking a refund and have contacted steam with my disgust over the matter. I have read the steam sotre page carefully with a fine tooth comb and multiplayer is plastered everywhere on the page.

You can join the unofficial servers at http://cnc-online.net/, and also, the gamespy shutdown affected many games, so you shouldn't have been unaware about this. using cnc online you can still play versus as well as do the campaign coperatively.

i was totally unaware as I don't play any of the other games affected online. I guess i'll have to approach steam like any other snake oil salesman next time i buy a game.

Also I dont like the idea of essentially cracking my own game. c&c online doesnt require a cd-key why did i bother paying for a game when p1ratebAy would have sufficed??!

It's not a crack, as the creator of cnc online has stated that cracked versions of the game are not compatible with the launcher. Thus, it still requires a legit copy, whether you have it on steam, origin, or a retail disk.

Ok, this makes me feel marginally better, i was a little worried i would be shoved in with pirates while i actually paid for the game haha. steam/ea should donate 33% of sales from the affected games to cnc-online for picking up their slack.

Also steam made no mention, i did notise that there was a 30 days notice of withdrawel of services imposed by ea, so i was given minus 20 days notice lol.

checked on origins website and they have 2 links regarding withdraweled services so if they are giving people a chance why shoudn't steam.

Also any cloned retail copy with daemon tools with emulation, or a mere mini-image could fool this launcher so pirates will still be rife in there.

Probably cause EA and Valve aren't friends. Very far from.

I'm not too bothered really, I guess more of an over-reaction out of principles but cnc-online have made the game worthwhile so I'm happy. Pity that these companies try to pull the rug under popular games because of money rather than polishing up an older title and adding a few optional features to bring in more players to make the servers worth their time.

its a garbage game in general even with the coop, I mean really... how did this game get such a pass?

It's not too bad, if i want long drawn out battles with a sophisticated tech system etc i'll play supreme commander for shorter more arcade battles red alert 3 is ideal

What has that got to do with myself or anyone else having trouble with their deadbeat ways?
