Invisible wall, glitch, bug (FIX)
OK, guys. As many of you know, there is problem when you get chased by two necros at the start of the game. When you use the elevator and go a floor down, there is a circuit you must destroy in order to get passed the door. However, many people (like my self) have experienced that the door opens and you are unable to go trough.

This error happens with people who have a more high end PC or RIG. So here is what you do.

First enter the game and save the game from where you first get attacked.
Secondly, pause the game and use ALT+TAB to go the desktop WITHOUT exiting the game.
Here you have to open your control panel for your graphics card and turn V-SYNC ON and tripple buffering ON for Dead Space specificaly and not globaly. Save these settings and go back to the game. In the game under Options and Visuals turn V-SYNC OFF for a better flow of the game. I use a XBOX 360 controler because its MUCH MUCH better gameplay. So when you escape the two idiots trying to kill you and go a level down and brake the circuit a necromorph should pop out. This means the game works as intended! If not, check your V-Sync settings both IN the game AND in the videocard control panel.

PS: When you are using the VC control panel you must find the game under C:/ - Programs (x86) - Steam - steamapps - common - Dead Space - Dead Space.exe

I am still trying to post a picture of the Video Card Control Panel. If somebody knows how please tell me...

Thank you and enjoy the game.

Yep, this fix has been around for years now. I'm amazed it hasn't been stickied yet, but thanks for the reminder for new folks who might be playing for the first time after the sales.

Only one thing, you don't have to start the game first before changing your V-Sync settings in your video card CP. Just change them beforehand, and then start the game and disable it in the options menu.

I just explained exactly how I did it... But so long as it works right? :)

You gotta be kidding me... 10 mins into this 5-year old game and I've already got a game-stopping bug? I shouldn't have to ♥♥♥♥ around with stuff like this. Requesting refund.

Please don't. Bugs (and ♥♥♥♥) happens, even in the most awesome games (i.e. Skyrim).

Well, it only takes a few minutes to fix the bug. Plus, the game is awesome :)

Dead Space is one of my favorite games. Played through it 100% on Xbox 360 and PS3. As much as it pains me to say this: I agree with Chaos Theory's request for a refund. He's right in that no one should have to ♥♥♥♥ around this way in order to get the game working. I would sure love to stream the PC version but the fix only works *part* of the time. Rarely, even, in my case. And in my case nothing fixes the mouse being really awful. Using a controller *partially* fixes it. I haven't tried it in a few months, so perhaps I will again...

After turning ON vsync and tripple buffering in CCC, vsync OFF in the game, I still can't go through doors :(( Am I the only one with this problem? Nothing helped, even with vsync ON which is nearly unplayable. I play with x360 controller from Microsoft.

Well, after some googling I found the solution. If you still can't walk through the invisible doors, try push your graphic settings in your CCC to the max like supersampling,16X AF. This helped me a lot and now I can play the game and have some fear with nice 200 fps:))

what if we don't have control panel for graphics card?

played the origins version recently and yeah it still isn't fixed there as some people claim it to be. I had to force use v-sync to get that script working but can you turn off the v-sync after that scene or do you get another bug futher down the line?

For anyone that still has the issue after trying all solutions: Give Direct3D Overrider a try, might work in your case. It was the only simple solution that has worked for me across several builds. Turn on its "Force triple buffering" and "Force VSync" settings (I also have "Application detection level" set to "High") instead of doing it through your card's settings and don't forget to run the program before you start the game, not after.

Thank you, this was very helpful.

Thanks but you HAVE TO restart the game after you apply the Control Panel settings for them to take effect.

Yeah, just had this problem, I am not going to sit through the beginning video(unskipable I tried) and try it all again, for the off chance EA made a playable game.

Also, I read everywhere that the origin version is fixed, it isn't.

GG EA, once bad always bad.
