Game not launching

I redownloaded the game from Steam when I upgraded mu PC recently and now it won't launch at all. I have tried from the launcher in the Steam file and I get the Mass Effect Launcher. When I select play the MassEffect.exe comes up and then goes away in the Task Manager. I have the 32 bit version and this PC has a 64 bit operating system but I didn't think that would make any difference. Anyone else had a similar problem?

i'm having the same problem and it's not steam-related; a friend of mine is having the same problem throguh origin. it's seems to be a game issue.

I have the very same problem and I am getting tired of trying different ways to solve it without any result... I am also feeling cheated as nobody seems to care about this issue, neither Steam nor EA (they don`t have a personall support for the game anymore)...

well, mass effect was really published under microsoft's banner, not ea. so the issue would have taken straight to bioware themselves.

Go to your Mass Effect folder, C:\...\Steam\steamapps\common\Mass Effect\Binaries. Right click MassEffect.exe and click the compatibility tab, then click the box beside "Run this program as an administrator" and run that. I think thats how I got mine to work anyway, and you should probably delete the shortcut you have on your desktop and make another one because I think it's corrupt or something. Good luck!

You have to run Steam as an administrator. Right click the Steam shortcut, and select "Run as administrator."

Yeah never had a problem running ME.

I did not have this problem with ME on Steam when I had old Windows, but now on Windows 7 64bit I had same prob and my solution was to make game not only always run as admin, as said

but also set in compatibility properties: Run this program in compatiblity mode for Windows XP SP3.

It seems that in general many games have probs with 64bit Windows and many especially with Win7 64bit.

I have the same problem. I have installed Windows 8 and installed steam on it. Downloaded mass effect and could not launch it yet. Using "Run as administrator" did not help. Any help?

You're probably going to be having a lot of issues with Windows 8 and games, being a new OS.
Verify game cache is the only help I can give.

I was having the same problem with my ME. It ran fine on xp sp3, but when I switched up to win7 32bit I could only get the game to start an initial launch and then it shut down. Follow these directions but add a check in the Run in Compatibility Mode and apply to all.
This fixed my game, Good Luck!

i have the same issue i just bought the game and it wont work. Steam seriously sucks half my games i bought off here dont work. Its complete ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥

Close Steam and then run Steam itself as administrator.
