Saving after credits

I have now defeated the final boss twice and sat through the end sequence twice, making the last of the six big decions. However, after the credits, my game reloads and when I load the game, I'm back fighting the boss. Surely this must be a glitch? Has anyone else had this problem?

Not a glitch. You can't continue playing the game after it's over.

Ah ok fair enough. But does it save the decision I made after the boss fight?

You mean if / when you import your save into Mass Effect 2? Yes, that decision carries over.

Well not exactly. Everything up to that boss fight carries over, for the last decision after that ( who became councilor), Mass Effect 2 will ask you that ingame in a certain scene at the beginning.
