I had once heard of a legendary game called Dragon Age: Origins. It never crossed my mind at the time as I was never a fan of buying games on release due to the expensive price. However, now I am no longer naive. I have opened my eyes to this marvelous game. I have played Dragon Age: Origins.
From a story perspective, this game is great. The different openings were exciting and fun and I originally started with a warrior, human noble. The beginning for that is intense, not to spoil anything, but lets just say its quite unexpected and great. The fact that quite a few things in the story are completely connected and effect each other adds to the intrigue of the story. It is immersive, long, large, and awesome. My one critique would have to be how Loghain gave up so easily after just losing one duel. He literally gave up mentally and physically after simply losing which didn't make that much sense.
From a gameplay perspective, this game is awesome. I was a big fan of completely controlling the whole fight as in constantly tactical pausing and quaeing up the actions for every single character at every single tick. It really lets you have absolute control of the game. The strategies you can use are great especially with certain combos (shattering) and the boss fights were challenging even on normal difficulty. I got so used to hitting F5(quicksave) and F9(quickload) that sometimes I'd accidentally do it even after I beat an enemy. With the quicksaving and quickloading, it really allows you to formulate a strategy: who goes where, where and how I want to kite an enemy, where I want to lure and enemy, who I want to selectively aggro, etc. Movement was nice and generally not buggy except for some of the DLC. However, one of the mechanics I really and truly hated esepcially at the beginning when I wasn't used to it is the camera. Boy is the camera frustrating but once I got used to it, it wasn't as bad.
Overall, this is one of the best games I've ever played and I realized why everybody loved it.
