Dragon Age: Origins

Dragon Age: Origins

I seem to have a problem...
So, I bought the game and I run it no problem. I log in in my EA account and I click "downloadable content" in the game's main menu.

There's -nothing- there. I don't get it. I refresh it over and over again to no avail - I still see nothing. I click on the "Installed Content" tab and there's nothing there. Available DLC, nothing. Downloading DLC? Nothing as well. What?

It doesn't matter how often I seem to try, it feels like I have no access to the content on the DLC I got. I can't access Shale despite being able to find her gear everywhere (I installed the DLC through dazip files I acquired through Bioware itself) but that's all there is. I also cannot access Warden's Keep despite haveing it installed as well through the same way - the NPC that supposedly gives us the quest isn't at the Warden's camp and I can't seem to do anything to make him actually show up.

I am confused. What's going on? How do I fix this? Anyone?

Have you registered the game here?[social.bioware.com]

Then redeemed your DLC code here?[social.bioware.com]

Does your DLC show up here?[social.bioware.com]

Yes, yes and yes.

I am checking the issue on Bioware's forums. Maybe there's something there.

It's usually the Dragon Age Updater Service not running that causes it.

Though you can simply run the daupdatersvc manually.

Go to C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\Dragon age origins\bin_ship\ (or change the "C:\Steam\Program Files" part to whereever you have Steam installed)

Run DAUpdaterSvc.Service.exe

Then run your game.

There is a FAQ to try and set the daupdatersvc to run automatically like it should here

I attempted to do what you told me, but I received a message from Windows that I never received before. It says:

"It is not possible to utilize the line of command or a scrubber. Windows service must be installed first (utilizing installutil.exe) and, afterwards, ran through ServerExplorer, Window's service administrative tool or the command NET START."

You know, I received a message from an image once telling me that they could not open it because my microphone wasn't plugged in the right socket, but this is a completely different level of absolutely insane.

Try this then (I edited out the references to disc and Origin versions since they are not relevant):

Navigate to C:/Windows/Microsoft.NET/Framework and make sure there is a folder in there that is named "v2.0.50727″
Navigate to the file named "DAUpdaterSvc.Service.exe". It should be located here by default:

C:\\Program Files (x86)\\Steam\\steamapps\\common\\Dragon Age\\DAUpdaterSVC.Service.exe (For Steam Versions)

Remember where the location of this file was. You may wish to copy this in to Word or Notepad.

Press the Windows key + R (or click Start and then RUN).
Type in “cmd” and then hold Control and Shift and press enter, to run escalated command prompt.
Type in "cd.." and see what the command prompt line says, if it is anything other than just "C:\\", repeat this step until the command prompt line says only "C:\\"
Enter in the following lines, one at a time:

cd Windows (Press Enter)
cd Microsoft.NET (Press Enter)
cd Framework (Press Enter)
cd v2.0.50727 (Press Enter)

Then, enter in the following line, but substitute the file location in the quotations with where you found the DAUpdaterSvc.Service.exe file on your computer. It should be one of the following. If it was in a different location, use the location path that you found earlier in Step 2.

For Steam Versions: Installutil “C:\\Program Files (x86)\\Steam\\steamapps\\common\\Dragon Age\\DAUpdaterSVC.Service.exe”

NOTE: Make sure the file name has the quotation marks around it, and then press Enter.

Then type in "net start DAUpdaterSvc" and press enter and it should tell you the updater is now running.
Now you can launch the game and it will install the Content to the game and give you full access to it.

I attempted it and I got stuck at the C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Dragon Age Origins\bin_ship\"DAUpdaterSVC.Service.exe" part. CMD says that "C:\Program" isn't recognizeable as an internal or external command. Maybe I'm typing something wrong.

"There was an exception when inicializing the installation:
System.IO.FileNotFoundException: It was not possible to load file or assemble 'file:///C:\Program' or one of its dependencies. System could not find specified file..."

Aaaand now, what? I had no idea I had to know programming in order to be able to play the game. I am so sorry for this inconvenience, seriously, I am.

Yeah I just tried that myself to see if it worked and I got the same error. Funny since that was an official EA solution.

I have no idea what else to suggest. Except maybe reinstalling?

For whatever reason the daupdatersvc hasn't been installed properly so maybe a full reinstall (not just verifying the cache) of the game would be better.

I'll see if it works. Might as well, seeing as how I don't really have an option. This is really not cool, man.

Despite not exactly working out as intended, you still took your time to come and help me. I really appreciate it. Hopefully, reinstalling the game after deleting everything it had in my computer will do the trick... if it doesn't, well, I guess I'll just go sulk at the money I spent I guess...

Wait don't uninstall yet

If you have already never mind, my bad for not thinking of it before.

If you haven't yet go to C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Dragon Age\redist

Run the DAUServiceSetup_Steam.exe and if present the DAOU_UpdateAddinsXML_Steam.exe (I think this one is an ultimate only file as it basically registers all the DLC in the game)

If you have uninstalled and get the same problem you had after reinstalling, do the above and run the two .exe files.

Oh, I'm reinstalling the game. Now I have to wait a few minutes before it's up and running again. Heh.

If the problem persists, I'll be sure to try doing just that. Maybe it's the only thing that's left...

Have you tried to manually install the dlc and let the client recognize it?
Ollain Jul 19, 2013 @ 1:15am
Yes, I did. Nothing happened, still. The guy that supposedly gives you the quest at the Warden's camp never shows up, I can't get to Shale and my DLC page in-game doesn't show me anything, even the DLC I supposedly don't have.

Some DLC have 2 files. One DLC itself and second one DLC Offer that starts it off, for example:
The Stone Prisoner is "DAO_PRC_CP_2" and Stone Prisoner Offer is "DAO_PRC_OCP_2" - could it be that you installed one and not the other?
