360 controller not working

I recently purchased a new computer with windows 10 64-bit installed, and I have been having trouble playing some games with an Xbox 360 controller. Certain games such as Rise of the Tomb Raider, Fallout 4, and Skyrim work fine, but others such as Mirror's Edge, Bioshock Infinite, and Spec Ops the Line won't register it at all. The buttons appear in the main menus, but I have no control whatsoever. I am using a ROCCAT Tyon mouse, and Isku FX keyboard in addition to the controller. If there are any solutions to this problem, I'd love to know and would be very grateful.

same issues here with win 8.1.

a work-around for mirrors edge and bioshock infinite (both unreal engine)

1. pop out the battery to turn off the controller
2. start the game
3. as soon as the EA logo or 2k logo comes up, turn the controller on. not before and not after!
