Why cant i max out the game?
Well im struggling to max ou the settings and play above 60 fps. Its 7 years old game, it still looks ok, but i expected more. In jungle i get 60, but when i enter a camp it drops to low 40s and during gunfight low 30. And thats on high settings (not Very high). With AA to 2.
I play on 1080p resolution (doesnt give much improvments by lowering it).
My comp : FX 8350 4.7 ghz
Saphire 7970 ghz edition 3GB Overclocked
16 GB RAM
I suspect its down to my AMD CPU, is anyone else experiencing same problem?

Your system is a beast, but given the recommended system requirements, even I should be able to max this game and at least achieve a consistent >30fps. I can't even get decent frame rates with a resolution set to 720p w/o aa and several of the graphics settings set to medium. Something definitely isn't right.

the game is not very good optimized. that's why you dont get a constant 60 fps. it has serious memory leaks. even the developers themself said the game was badly optimized

try stock speeds... your overclocking seems a bit high... i have the same specs as you and roll with 8x aa with not a problem... sometimes a little chug when zooming in, but just a microstutter....

keep in mind its from 2007 & only going to use two cores if that. idk what my FPS is right now, but i do remember that last year i played warhead (maybe a heavily modded crysis) on a 680 & that was really struggling in parts. its just going to happen...tho i just saw youre only on high & 2xAA. that is odd, yeah. maybe nvidia cards do better for some reason?

Finished the game, the final was sooo laggy that i had to tune the difficulty to easy just to finish it!
Also just completed Warhead, which i found much better optimised - mostly 60 fps on very high with 1080p. 2xAA. And a better looking game.

wouldd like to try it out but have finished and uninstalled it. but on every other game this clock speed gives me + 10 fps average versus stock multiplier.

it doesnt make sense to me that lowering yr clock would help anyway. if anything, you would want to overclock it even more for crysis b/c its only going to be using half your cpu at most, & you could probably get away with an otherwise unstable OC.

Simple answer: The game is poorly optimized.

it is down to your cpu because iam running a i7 2700k oc to 4.4 and a 7950 direct cu ii 3 gig +16 gig ram and it runs perfect for me
everything very high , 1080 ,AA set to 4x and it hasnt dropped below 55 fps for me
