Just go here to create an EA account (if you haven't got one yet) and then activate your Crysis game using the CD Key I mentioned above. Link ---->https://activate.ea.com/gameactivation.do
Note: Make sure to completely uninstall the steam version BEFORE attempting to download the Origin version (also, delete the crysis folder in the steam\steamapp\common\ directory). The origin version of the game comes with both Bin32 and Bin64 folders and on my Win7 64-bit system, the 64-bit version automatically launches (assuming you launch from the desktop shortcut and not from the origin interface).
Origin's version of the game actually loads! I'm having some underscan issues on my HDMI monitor and I can't get vsync to turn on, but at least it works. I didn't need to mod any files or mess with compatibility modes. It works right out of the box...or should I say server? ;)
Excuse me mate can you max out the settings and play with over 60 fps?
I don't know exactly what frames I'm getting, but it's definitely not 60 fps. Right now I'm running it at 720p in windowed mode because I can't stand all the tearing I get in fullscreen. For some reason ALL games give me awful tearing if I don't enable Vsync. Not sure why.
If I had to estimate how many fps I'm getting, I'd guess it'd range from 21-45 and average 27. I know, it should definitely be at least a little bit higher than this, but I haven't tried optimizing anything yet. I remember having quite a few programs running in the background when I ran this, so I'll try to see how much I gain by running this game without anything else in the background.
EDIT
btw, I didn't max out the settings. I was running it on high.

The issue will only appear with HDMI monitors or HDTVs apparently. I'm not sure if it's an issue that occurs only with AMD cards, but that's possible. Basically you have to set your desktop to any resolution you wish to play your game at then you're supposed to go into the AMD control center and find the scaling setting to set overscan adjustment to 0%. I actually already knew that, but what I didn't know was that I had to adjust the overscan for the various refresh rates as well. For some reason Crysis runs in 50Hz as opposed to 60hz. So I set my monitor to 720p 50z and adjusted the scaling then reverted my desktop back to 1080p 60hz which is my native resolution and refresh rate. After that, I launched the game and the underscan was gone.
I also solved the Vsync issue. Apprently there are patches that Crytek released which added in-game Vsync options. Prior to the updates you needed to use a command console to enable vsync which didn't work for me. There are a total of three patches, but you only need to install 1.2 and 1.21. For an explanation of why, see the link here:

Here's a link to the patches I used: http://crysis.filefront.com/files/Crysis/Official_Releases/Patches;10331
Cheers!
Thank you :)
The Origin version worked - after jumping over a few more hoops! and why can't I activate the CD key in Origin instead of using your useful link! Now, if only I can get my settings to stick.
Still a pretty good game considering how old it is.
Thanks again.
Did you try activating the game on Origin as I described in my second post?
