hi ya'll
i just got the game, played tutorial and everything, had a play around and whatnot
and i keep getting a pop-up saying max tonnage hit...

is there anyway how do i rise the planets ""max tonnage"" or make buildinds smaller in tonnage.. ?

because im getting tired of getting a new colony set up just to find out i can only build...
like a space yard or a..... mineral storage....

ideally i'd like to have a ""military installment planet"" have ohh something like

a space yard, planet defences maybe a farm and troops building...
not be limited to being stuck with JUST a space yard =/

so yh is there any way to make planet tonnage higher or maybe make buildings lighter ?

There are a few ways: only colonise larger planets, only colonise planets with breathable (green star instead of red) atmosphere and later on in the game you can add planet improvement facilities, which will make a planet breathable increasing the amount of tonnage you can add. Look here[] for how to get them, but you'll need a lot of research points.

As for ships with a maximum tonnage, just research better ships. Components will always stay the same size, but sometimes better components increase the size. I usually build 75% or more of my planets full of research facilities so I can get better options faster.

Buildings are also always the same size, but you can colonise an unlimited amount of planets and by research they will get more efficient. Also make sure you ferry population (population transport with storage units) to space yard planets and usually only build those on larger planets: they will reduce building time.

Planets without breathable atmosphere will be domed and thus less productive. You can invade and conquer other races, thereby getting population that can breathe other atmospheres. Just move your population out and the new population in and the dome should be gone.

I thought there was also a storage/cargo facility for planets, so you'd be able to increase the amount of units it could store. But that might just be SEIV, the game's predecessor.

yeah, there's a cargo storage facility you can build to increase tonnage. It's listed under facilities when you're in the build queue. Basically it converts a fixed 1,000 facility tonnage to extra cargo tonnage (for weapons platforms, fighters, troops, etc), and as your research improves the facility, it gives more space, iirc.

An alternative to conquering races with alternate breathable atmospheres is to enter into an agreement with another race that allows migration - either from their planets to yours only, or both ways. If you're strong enough, you might be able to get away with it being one way, so they don't get the benefit of being able to breathe your atmosphere. But I usually just go for two-way migration because it's quicker. Then you can go to your colonies screen, and use the layout that lists the races. Sort the "races" column by clicking on it, and the planets with multiple races move to the top. Then I usually just go to the planets with more than one and scrap the population that can't breathe (mine) - quicker than waiting on transports to move the domed population away, and better in the long run because you get more facilities more quickly ;) ymmv.
