DevnullMod 1.79 for Space Empires V released
If you, like many others, see the potential in SE5 but are disappointed in the base version, there is a large amount of mods out for this game that greatly improve upon the AI and gameplay of the base version.

One of those mods is one that I've just released a new version of: DevnullMod. This mod greatly improves on the AI, the technology tree, and overall gameplay of SE5 in an attempt to get a faster paced, balanced, and challenging game.

You can download the latest version of the mod at http://www.devnullsoftware.com/se5/#devnullmod

If you're interested in other mods (which there are many), you can always check out http://www.spaceempires.net (which is not run by me - it's a fan site dedicated to SE5 and has always been a hub for SE5 mods)

Hey devnullicus. Long time SE 2-5 player here... I just bought the Steam bundle cause it was cheap and I thought it would be nice to have on steam. But I can't figure out where to install mods... Any clues? Thanks! Bill

All steam apps are installed to your steam folder (default is c:\program files\steam I think?). Find that directory on your system. From there, the path to install SE5 mods is <Steam Dir>\steamapps\common\Space Empires V\GameTypes\ Just unzip the mod file in that dir and run the game. When it asks you to start a new game, choose the mod you installed. Should be pretty simple, though since I don't use the default steam dir location, I'm not sure the default path I gave is correct.

Thanks!, I found it: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\SpaceEmpiresV\SE5\GameTypes

works like a charm...

Oops, spoke too soon. Kwok's Balance Mod worked like a charm. But DevNullMod is giving me a floating point error as soon as I try to create a game. i.e. before I even see the sector generation options. Being on Steam, I am obviously up to date (1.79) and I chose your 1.79.0 version. Any thoughts?

Thanks again, Bill

ah, Devnull, it's good to see you active in SE again :) I remember playing your devnullicus mod for SE4 years upon years ago... circa 1999 or 2000. Fond memories there. Glad to see you're developing SE5 also :D

Now, if I could only fix these turn times......... ugh
