I was happy to grab this up for cheap, I think less than 50 cents. When I loaded it up(after having to grab some physx legacy drivers) I was pumped because it looked good. It's not an ugly game. I started to play. Felt alright the first level. I was thinking that the story was pretty compelling because of quality character models, voice acting, and all that. But the second level reallllllly showed me why this game is so cheap. It's truly broken. I mean, the controls are kinda clunky, but they were tolerable. The problems though that exist are so awful that I don't think I can play this game ever again. The main thing that made me realize I probably don't have the patience to play this game is an enemy shooting through a concrete wall. No, I am not wrong about it. Clearly they can shoot through walls. Also, they can't walk through about 30 percent of the doors in the game(if not 100 percent IDK there is some "special" doors that simply don't open like others but give you a quarter second load time even though you can peek through them... trust me, it's stupid.) Their whole stealth kill mechanic is craaappy. I don't feel like explaining the details of it so just take my word, it's pretty awful. Now, I don't think this game was meant to be bad, but I feel like someone made the devs rush this out the door, or they were just wasted time on other things. Cause the game looks great. There is lots of well done animations to it and it has actually really good textures, models, sounds, and overall content in that nature. It just feels like the gameplay mechanics were just unfinished.
What it comes down to though is the price. I mean, I was reallly compelled by the female character. Her model is really awesome, and her voice actor is pretty good. If you have the patience to sneak everyone with a stealth kill using their buggy mechanics to progress through what I am assuming is a pretty decent story... then get it. I mean, if you liked playing MGS games on extreme difficulty, then you might be OK with this, not because it's totally intended to be played that way, but because you kind of have to due to the incomplete mechanics.
This is a seriously hard recommend for me, even on sale, even at it's price, but I have to because there is some love put into this game. Art direction and all the artists in general were really great(not so much over all level design tho). It's the programmers who failed, or the publishers or whoever made this game go unfinished.
