F.E.A.R. 2: Project Origin quite simply isn't a F.E.A.R. game. It's Call of Duty with its only tie to the first game being the little telepathic supernatural undead psycho chick Alma.
All the highpoints of the first game, the atmosphere, the alternation between fast unforgiving gunplay and atmospheric level progression are not present in this sequel. The first game's expansion packs of Extraction Point and Perseus Mandate were weaker than the original game but far stronger in design + story than this. The Mech suits are interesting but the rest of the game is unoriginal as dirt.
Furthermore, F.E.A.R. core gameplay involves the Replica soldiers, supernatural monsters, and the U.S. Army unit of First Encounter Assault Recon. This game starts you out with a lengthy section of fighting Armachan soldiers murdering Armachan employees. You're not fighting as the F.E.A.R. Point Man or operative (as in Perseus Mandate) but a Delta force squad practically taken from COD: Modern Warfare.
In conclusion, I would only recommend this game if you're a COD addict and need another cheap fix. The original F.E.A.R. with its expansion packs and F.3.A.R. are better than this. At least in F.3.A.R. you get some interesting gameplay as Paxton Fettel, the undead brother from hell.
