No Full Screen

I can't get this game to run full screen anymore. I used to be able to so I don't know why I can't now. Whenever I select full screen, The whole sceen flashes, a large empty black box keeps appearing and disappearing and doesn't stop until i set it to windowed mode again. Any idea why this has happened anybody and if there's anthing I can do to resolve it? Thankyou

If you are running Windows 7, try running Steam in Windows XP Service Pack 3 compatability mode. I couldn't even get the game to launch as full screen until I did that.

Thanks for your help. I'm afraid that didn't work for me though. It won't run the game at all now though and says it won't run because "steam.dll is missing from your computer!"
