Steam overlay not working.

Bought this game, works fine, except for one issue. The overlay doesn't seem to work. If I open it while playing, it's all white as if it's been highlighted and unresponsive and slow.

It seems to work fine up until the main menu/you are in game, but then it starts doing that.
