Is this worth buying?

I really love this series, but a lot of people are saying the steam game is broken. Should I wait to buy it until they 'fix' it, or should i just go ahead and risk it?

I worked for me for a while then it didnt work again. its a great game, but steam screwed us all over. i bought Star Wars The Force Unleashed 2 and im having problems with the game starting

I love the series too man. I bought it because I loved it on xbox but it still has a lot of issues that can really get in the way of reliving all those fond memorys. Your comp might be different though I dont know YMMV

I dont think no ones knows when they'll fix the problems and lets just hope that they do look into it more. i would wait until they fix it pal, just try getting the other oddworld games

well basically the game starts and it shows the 'oddworld inhabitants' intro, then its just a black screen and says 'this game application has stopped working''

The game started crashing after death when the Loading Screen appears - had to restart the game over and over again because of this. This bug started to appear during the last levels of the game.
Workaround: hit the start button right after dying before the freeze select Return to Menu (or whatever it's called) so you can reload your last savefile without having to start the game from desctop again.

Other than that SSAA seems to drain a lot of ressources so I turned Anti-Aliasing off completely as FXAA only makes the picture blurrier. Wish they could optimize this a bit more.

It is possible that you might never get this game in a workable state or in a state where you find it playable. I bought this game months ago and I still cannot play the game. Constant freezing, low FPS, and a big drain on resources.

Of course you could be lucky and it runs just fine for you. Wait for a steam sale is my recommendation.

I haven't had any problems with the game at all. Not sure what the issues are, but if your computer can handle it then the game is definitely worth picking up.

I'm sorry, but for me it was a buggy, unplayable piece of crap. I loved this game on XBox, but after getting caught in a falling through the floor glitch that never went away, I deleted it. I was so disappointed.

If you have a PS3, get it off PSN instead (if only because the PS3 version actually works without being patched, perfectly). The only negative about the PS3 version is playing the first person mode with a pad is not as good as with a mouse (then again, people recommend using a pad with this version as well, so there you go).

Don't buy it. The game's kinda bad. It has nothing in common with the first Oddworld, which are masterpiece.
Also it aged too much, it's ugly, the missions are boring (capture a boss go to bounty store... for 15 hours) and it's not so funny past one hour.

Stay away because even without glitches it's still a bad game.

well sure it doesn't take place in the first oddworld,but who cares? this is a nice change of pace from the first oddworld games.the shooting is interesting and its a bit funny (its basicly fart jokes thoughout).the twist in the middle of the game is great and is the reason i wanna play the game.just knowing the twist just gave me chills.

I played this game on the Xbox and I played it again when it came out for the PC.

For what it's worth, it's a pretty good game, it deviates from the standard Abe story of Odd World, but it is most defiantly an Oddworld game, it just takes place in a different location with a new central character.

It's a fun, western style romp through Oddworld as you play as the Stranger, trying to make money from collecting bounties so you can afford to pay for a mysterious surgery.

The combat mechanics are fun and the humor is great too.

If you never played it before, I'd recommend you pick this game up, it's pretty good. I haven't had any issues running or playing this game.

But I am pretty pissed off that the PS3 version offers 3D display support and the PC platform got ignored.
