Will Warhammer 40K work after MS live shutdown?

I'm wondering if Valve will have a patch avalable on Steam for THQ games like Warhammer 40K that currently requires a Windows live account to play. Kinda sucks that that I paid for a game here on Steam, but Microsoft is gonna screw us over by shutting down the Windows Live server. Personally, I like Valve, it's the only video game company making money cause their not screwing over their customers. I hope they can provide a patch that will allow us to play our games on steam.

I hate Microsoft more and more every day.

No it won't works because u need Games for Windows live to play the Single Player Campagne. And all rights are on Games Workshop and THQ. Sega have not buyed the rights for Warhammer.

Hi, I began my DoW2 campaign when Games for Windows Live was still operating, now I can't log into my old profile to continue my saved campaign. I created a local/offline profile, can someone tell me how to transfer the saves and other relevant info to the offline profile?

Onw would think that if Steam is going to add this game to your library then they should support that game. I have been waiting very patiently for them to figure out how to adapt this game to their platform but it does not look like they are going to. They obviously only care about a new game that you will have to purchase rather than give support to one that you already own.

How can you get the achievements if you can't play the game? My game will get to the splash screen but then requires me to sign in to my GFWL account, which no longer exists. Have you found a way around that?

Same problem - when I use my saved log in information it says I can't log in, which I had assumed meant the servers are down. Apparently it's possible to transfer old saves to offline profiles which still work, but I need someone to explain how.

Either way, I have contacted Sega, Microsoft, Steam and anyone else connected to this game, no one is trying to make it work. As I said before, they aren't interested in making this game work because we all have purchased it already. They are only interested in helping if it means we are going to buy something else. The basis of capitalism is to make money, not give good customer support.

I found the solution to my log in issue - it wasn't reinstalling the GFWL client, microsoft apparently had 'detected unusual activity' on my account and I had to log in again to overall microsoft - maybe bc after not playing DoWII for a while I forgot my pw and had to log in a couple times.

I fixed it by going here:

It's the basic outlook log in, I found my old log in info archived in gmail and logged back in. After that I could get back into my old GFWL account and resume my saved campaign. Hope this helps someone.

I tried Genosse's suggestion and it worked. Reset my Microsoft password thorugh the outlook page and when I tried to sign on windows live in the game it worked. Thanks for the suggesttion.

Glad it worked, this seems to be the solution for that small subset of us who are trying to return to incomplete campaigns. You are welcome.

Now, anyone know if GFWL will stay in this limbo, or if it completely vanishes at some point?

They moved CoH1 to Steam after their old server got shutt down, so I'm hopping they will do the same for DoW2.
