are Prodcut keys still a thing?

so i picked up the game and the DLC and after installing them all (chaos rising was like 1MG which is wierd) it said i would need to enter a product key yet i've not had to do it at all yet and i'm playing the campain perfectly fine on all three games was this removed or was it done automatically via steam?
