If you plan to buy the Heroes of Might & Magic V, then just buy just this one.

There is a mod called Might and Magic 5.5 out in the internet, it enhances the game greatly and makes every campain playable without purchasing the other 2 Might and Magic V games (for free) - hope you have fun ;)

Let's be real, the HoMM games after this don't exist and I refuse to believe anyone who tells me otherwise.

It is stand - alone expasion pack.

Awesome music, good graphics , very addictive , fun turn based tatics game.
These are things when in comes to HOMM. And HOMM5 is not different.

But be careful. It will gonna make you pay a lot of time. I mean it.
The one-time play can cost you about 1 and half hour and possbilly even more!
The fact that luck plays major role in this game can kinda make you upset. (there's many radom stuff in this game)

Note that there's mod that make you play other HOMM5 campaigns on this expasion pack.(orginal , HOF)

The last good Heroes game.

I know Heroes 3 fans will get mad, but objectively this is the best game in the series, period. Saying this as someone who played all installations extensively. 3D aspect is divisive, but nevertheless, the "game" is the best embodiment of what Heroes is.

After you play it, also check out the MMH5.5 mod, which is more like an expansion pack, that brings a whole new game experience.

Bought heroes 6, was dissappointed and even more dissapointed when i couldnt even finish 1 mission because it stopped working. Remembered this game was good. And now that I play it, I realize it's very close to heroes 3 in mechanics(heroes 3 was a diablo 2 quality game imo).

Get it. Such a good game.

In my opinion this is the pinnacle of the HOMM series.
Skip Heroes 6. It really is terrible.

One of the best Might and Magic games. I've been playing this game since I was a kid. I do not regret any second spent in this game. One of the best experiences I've ever had. Since I'm already here, I'll share some of my thoughts about the whole ''Heroes of Might and Magic'' franchise. It is obvious that the best part is ''Heroes III'', and it cannot be doubted. The previous 2 parts were also very good. Now let's consider the IVth part. Without a doubt it is worse than previous one, but is it that bad? We mustn't forget that it was the main reason, 3DO went bancrupt (I think). But besides that, it is a pretty well done game. The thing that made it fail, was too much new mechanics such as: independence of the army from the hero, forbiddance of shooting thru enemies, instant counterstrike, mobile enemies on the map etc. All of this made the old players learn these new, weird mechanics and a lot of them didn't like it. ''Heroes V'' however, is a masterpiece. Especially in comparison to ''Heroes IV''. The return of old mechanics and addition of 3D made this game fantastic. Yes, the 3D made the map a little bit empty, but it is only a small disadvantage in the sea of benefits. Then we have ''Heroes VI'' and it is definitely worse than the Vth part. But I still like it a lot. Just like ''heroes IV'' it was introduced a lot of new mechanics, for example: the skill tree, blood and tears path, independence of the hero from the army (it doesn't work the other way), different division of units etc. But I like the thought that you can develop your hero the way you want, and even the units, and the graphics and textures that are amazing. So it isn't a bad game for me. ''Heroes VII'' however is a bit more garbage than other parts. The wooden movement of the units and their attacks make me nauseous. The sound effects that do not fit the attacks and other things make me cry. there are also some advantages, such as the skill tree, but just like the ''Heroes V'' had it's sea of benefits, the ''Heroes VII'' has its sea of drawbacks. So to sum everything up:
''Heroes III'' > ''Heroes V'' > ''Heroes VI'' = ''Heroes IV'' > ''Heroes VII''

Needless to say - endless classic. The best HOMM game in my personal opinion. If anyone is interested in giving it a chance - I highly recommend downloading Heroes 5.5 mod. This mod improves gameplay insanely high, improves AI, interface and the best feature - you can play all HOMM 5 games in 1 game.

Heroes of Might & Magic V is one of the best in the series and for me it's only second to Heroes 3 Complete with HoTa mod.
To really make Heroes of Might & Magic V shine download the Heroes 5.5 mod from ModDB it does a huge re-balance of the games units and skillwheel. It also and adds better and faster AI, better random maps and bigger maps.

Tribes of the East is the only one you need to have installed in the Heroes 5 series since you can add the other campaigns to the UI with help of a guide on steam.
