SH3 no longer works

I have the same computer that i had for years. I have installed SH3 GWX Gold a couple months ago. It worked fine. I had played 14 patrols. I had to system restore because of windows updates.. I reinstalled SH3 GWX Gold about a week ago. Worked fine. Now halfway through my second patrol SH3 crashes after the "Not so long ago" message. Is there any way to fix this? I had GWX gold installed before and never had this problem.

I've struggle with this for a time now. All I can recommend is install 4GB patch (there are reports that old saves wont work after that but mine worked), never save underwater (load a save where you are surfaced), and disable any widescreen mod you have (enable once back on port).

So far what seemed to work is a complete reinstall of GWX gold. My old save still works if i start from port on a previous mission even though i deleted everything SH3 from my cpu. Seems to work fine now. Knock on wood. Thanks for the suggestions though.

what has worked for me is deleting the game and then reinstall it, I had to do the same a few weeks ago. Didnt lose any data either.
