Uplink is a heart attack inducing hacking game about just that, hacking. You take jobs from various clients, negotiate prices, and utilize various programs to hack through security systems and perform your objectives before a trace can be performed on your computer. All from the safety of your own home! Figuratively and literally. There's no overworld. Or anything similar. The entire game takes place on an emulation of a custom OS designed for hacking. You can use money from jobs to upgrade and customize your computer, which you use to tackle bigger and bigger jobs. Outside of a simple plot, that's all that there really is to it. It's a simple, stressful, fast paced game about using your CPU's power as efficently as possible to manage your various hacking programs to slow traces, crack passwords, copy and delete files.
For it's price, the gameplay is solid, and it's definitely worth the buy. However, Uplink is a one trick pony. If you don't enjoy resource management, have a poor memory, or can't think quickly, this isn't the game for you.
