Uplink mouse problems

I just recently purchased the Uplink/Darwinia pack from Steam after a friend told me how great uplink was. After watching him play and some youtube videos, I excitedly bought it.

The problem is that I start the game and right from the get go, my mouse and trackpad stop working. I can hit enter to get to the screen that says "About us" and "Register a new agent". No matter what buttons I press or where/how I click, nothing works. Its full screened and I cant exit it so it requires a hard shut down.

Is there anyone out there who has the same problem and found a fix? I've also posted this to the Introversion forum but that seems deader than dead.

Specs:
Mac Mountain Lion 10.8.2
Dual core i7
4 gbs Ram
256 mb video card

For anyone else who has this problem...
1) Open Steam
2) Right click on Uplink in the Library
3) Click the Betas tab
4) Choose to accept Beta

This downloads what I assume is a patch and now the game works perfectly!

Is there another fix for this? I tried the above steps and nothing downloaded and I'm still stuck with the mouse not working.

I'm having this issue, but the game thinks the mouse is below where the mouse actually is, it's frustrating. There is no Beta tab, the only place I can find beta it asks for a key.
