If you really want to add and create Uplink mods I would suggest heading over to Gog.com and grabbing a new copy of the non-steam version of Uplink from

It is only $5.99 and apart from being the non-steam version it also includes bonuses including the Bonus Disk and Developer CD which are very useful when it comes to Mods :D

The GOG Version doesn't allow mods either, if you want to use mods buy it from the main site.

Why that! ;D

There are a lot of moddable games here. Just look at the Steam Workshop, Garry's Mod or Crusader Kings II.

I know the post is old but it's not Steam. or GoG or anything else. The latest version of Uplink simply doesn't support dev mods. Period. You can still add custom gateways and little things but the overhauls for some reason won't work which is a real shame. I doubt it will ever be fixed either given how old the game is.

well then why doesnt the steam worskhop allow us to add gateways then
@Ben Jun 25, 2013 @ 2:59pm
thats a good idea!

although if you read the readme they enabled modding options in 1.1 versions of the game

its a shame.
They haven't updated this game in a long long time.
And they won't update it again either. The company is long, long since moved on to other projects.

Introversion also will not be revisiting for a sequel either. It's been stated many times by themselves on their own forums. So, don't ever get your hopes for workshop, it will not come.

Yeah, what's the problem exactly? You can mod it just fine, same way it always was, even dev mods would work if you rename your exe.
