Revelation: After the Outbreak
After the outbreak of Revelation is cleaned up, will the systems that were affected by it come online ever again? I mean, if e.g. the Level-7 Mainframe got infected, will it eventually be replaced with a new system, one which isn't infected?

I don't want the outbreak to occur if it will leave a lasting impression on the global network, which is why I ask.

All systems infected by Revelation are treated like mainframes that you have destroyed. There will be a news article about them (and they will open back up instantly for a mainframe once this is released, I think) and a timer will begin for it to reopen.

I'd say give a system hit by Revelation about six hours in-game and it'll be back, but without the files from before.

Yeah, ofc without the files.

I've been digging into the executable with a disassembler (heh, hacking a hacking game), all versions of Revelation wipe the databank and logbank (and, interestingly, there is a flag for databanks which indicates if it is formatted, probably for the sys/ dir, since that isn't in the databank structure)

I have yet to find where servers get rebuilt, though, since it doesn't appear to be clustered with the other computer (COMPUT) functions, though it might be near the location (VIRTLOC) functions, now that I think about it...*shrug*

Maybe. I've never actually looked inside the game.
