Game crashes on new profile

Hi, I've played Darwinia before (years ago). I'm on vacation, had some time, installed steam, loaded Darwinia, created a new profile and started playing the prologue.
When leaving the location, Darwinia crashed.
After starting Darwinia again, I saw that my profile was gone, "newuser" was back, so I created my profile again and started playing Garden. When com[plete I left the location and when I tried to enter Containment... Darwinia crashed again.
I verified the game-files. Steam says the're allright.
I started Darwinia again. This time, no new profile, I played Garden and Containment without any problems.
Is this a known error?

I forgot to tell you: playing on Windows (7 x64)

Problem Solved: I always move my Documents, etc to another partition.
Darwinia doesn't seem to ask the sytem where the "Saved Games" folder actually is but assumes it is on the c-drive.

Simpelest way is to create a NTFS-link to the actual folder on the c-drive.
Like this: mklink /D "C:\Users\%username%\Saved Games" "D:\Documents\%username%\Saved Games"
