How to begin this review? Firstly, thank you to Rinon for buying me this game.
Now with the pleasantries over with I can go into the meat of the review. Yes, this is an eleven year old game, but even on my rather decent gaming rig I was getting graphical artifacts, crashes and not even being able to play the game for what little I played. I purchased this game retail when it came out in '04, and my memories were true. Crytek make pretty engines, but horrible games. With enemies that can instakill you on moderate difficulty before you are within visual range of them, enemies that have models that pop in out of nowhere, and constant, frustrating artifacts the game was unplayable for me on each and every setting. Audio was a joke, as my headphones could just barely pick up voices and/or sounds even when at the maximum volume.
Normally my OCD requires me to play each and every game in a series, but for now - I am skipping over to Far Cry 2. Your results with this game might vary, but in my opinion - do not get your hopes up.
Another three hours of wrangling with the game and all I ended up with was a pair of BSODs, an overheated GPU, and a full on crash that forced me into safe mode. I hate to do this but I am going to have to urge others not to purchase this game, it could damage modern hardware if my results are any proof.
