Far Cry Shadows Very Poor FPS
If you have a newer AMD graphics card (HD5xxx series and newer) you won't be able to run this game at the maximum settings. Using shadow settings at high or very high will cause framerate drops down to 20fps even with high end cards like the HD6970 or HD7970.

This is due to a conflict between the the shadow casting in Far Cry and recent AMD drivers. Luckily rolling back the drivers does seem to completely fix the issue. I'm currently using Catalyst 12.10 and my frame rate no longer drops beyond 70fps.

I hope this fix helps people because finding the solution to this problem is a lot more difficult due to the age of the game and Far Cry 3's recent release

I bet your framerate is a little higher now lol. My HD6970 is literally half of your GPU and i get over 100fps average at max settings

I have a problem where installing the 10.12 driver gives me Critical Exception problems, unable to fix them.

Can someone help me with this? I would love to see this being fixed.

I'd wipe your divers and then install the older driver.

Wow this is incredibly disapointing. I'm not going to roll back my drivers just to play one game.
Oh well : (

It really doesn't take a long time. There are plenty of programs that make it easy. This is an old game stuff like this sometimes happens

Use 12.10 drivers. 10.12 are really old. 12.10 and my HD6970 work perfectly
