So I just finished the game, here are my personal 2 cents

Loved because:

1) Challenging
2 Somewhat slow-paced gameplay ie stealth
3) Able to pick up enemies from afar using sniper rilfer and M4
4) Lush jungle provides cover for self as well as foes
5) Beautiful beach / island settings

Disliked:
1) Being pitted against large group of rocket-welding enemies while I'm stuck with a bloody rifle, and the fact that you can run only for 15 seconds
2) The fact that I CAN'T RUN FOR MORE THAN 15 seconds. I should be able to choose between running VS stealth, but in here I'm being forced to do 1 or the other.
3) Extremely cheesy voice act, especially on Jack and Val
4) Ending. Wow, some anti-climax BS this one is.

Overall, it's a lengthy FPS title I'd recommend, and the storyline is pretty damn good considering today's major bulk of shoot-ask-no-questions titles.

LMAO yes indeed. And when EVERY SINGLE MERC goes "i'm gonna tear you a new one", it gets old pretty fast.

Worse yet, they decided to recycle the same bloody line for trigen mercs too, just with an evil-ish tune lol.

The game is great but ya it has horrible voice acting and a predictable ending. The immersion while playing is top notch though. 8.2/10 for me

The mercs voice acting are the best !
How can you go wrong with things like: "How about those apples!" - "Caught any fish yet, Jean Marc?" and of course the classic "Hell, yeah!" :)
This is tounge in cheek all the way, and bloody good at it IMO.

For even cheesier voice acting, play through the MATTO mods. Feels like free of charge expansion packs. Great fun!

While that is true......in 2 and 3 it wasnt the whole health bar....it was only 1 bar (out of 5 for 6).

My main positives are:

1) challenging....still cant beat this game on Realistic. Stuck on swamp (level 17).
2) for 2004 game looked great. Bought it in 2005 and have played the daylights out of it.
3)Gunplay is very satisfying.
4)Variable playstyles. Stealth or Rambo....i mix the 2.

Negatives:
1)trigens ruined the game....in the same vein Crysis was ruined by the aliens. Battles with much more fun with humans.
2)Difficulty spikes. I like the fact that the game is tough, in fact i highly praise it for that. However, there are a couple points in the game where you stand no chance. The part in swamp i'm stuck at on Realistic (for YEARS now) is where you are manning the gun in a vehicle while Val drives. Rage inducing. I've beaten the game on every skill except for Realistic.
3) The ending was a bit of a letdown. Just expected more to be revealed after the final fight.

Wow...realistic...i've just finished it on challenging and i think is very difficult...the monkey trigens are a nightmare...just one hit and they kill you...two with full armor...
The history is very baaaddd...good idea but bad development, and the sarcasm of Jack makes him look like dumb sometimes...

The merge of stealth and combat is great for me, I tend get bored by pure stealth game, but the mix is very fun. I also enjoy the diversity you can apply to achieve a goal, as I tend have to replay some parts that possibility is a lot of fun. The game is too difficult for me but well it shouldn't be too easy or the stealth ability would feel lame. I don't remember at all have found that gameplay in Far Cry 2 but I need play it more than a small part.

At Normal difficulty the game is quite open.

For example I just applied another way to go past the first camp. Moved to it's "right" by swimming in the sea, killed the guy on tower on top of hill, then saw the other beach with two jeep, and continue to reach water, cross water by swimming under water, reach the jeep from water and killed the two guys guarding it and for other coming I killed them with the jeep weapon. And so on. No copter, no huge armies to punish me not have follow the "right" path. It's certainly not the best path, I remember some stuff in camp, but it's cool to be able manage this part so differently.
