Much like its predecessor, this game has aged remarkably well. It started off rather slow, but once I became familiar with the combat system I found it hard to tear myself away from the computer. The combat system is a major improvement over the original and places a great deal of freedom at your fingertips. Moreover, it fosters a blend of action and exploration to keep you interested and to keep the game fast-paced. When the game is at its best, you'll find yourself catapulting from acrobatic duels into high-adrenaline chase sequences through beautiful Gothic-style ruins. I recommend it, especially for the price.
There is one caveat worth mentioning. This game is a significant departure from the original, especially with regard to its ambiance and storyline. Warrior Within tries too hard to be dark and edgy, often to the point of ridiculousness. That's a minor critique though, and if you can look past the stylistic flaws, I think you'll find that this game has aged gracefully and serves as a worthy successor to The Sands of Time.
