Slow Download speeds?

Hey hey, so I have fast, DSL internet and in UT, downloading maps from servers that prompt you to, take for EVER. 10Mbs is a rediculously long download. Any ideas why? Im very very sure its the game and not my service provider.

depends on the server........if they dont have their map files on a redirect for downloading it will be slow as molasses.........its a good sign the server admins are not taking care of the server.

only thing to do is reconnect cuz sometimes that will speed it up or change servers.......theres only 20-30 that are still even truly active daily. those downloads will be fast

What about when I run a server for my friends and I to download. It isnt dedicated so its only up when I start it up I just want my pals to have access to some new maps.

You mentioned setting up a redirect? what, roughly does that entail. I'll start doing some looking around too.

if you are creating basically a server for everyone to join to you........that is using your connection speed......or whoever is hosting.......your upload speed must suck then. i dunno what to tell you. redirect is for dedicated servers

you could upload all the maps and texture files your friends need to connect to an ftp site somewhere and they download and put it in the proper folders that way........otherwise i dunno what to tell ya.
