Win 7 & 8 compatibility?
Does Unreal II: The Awakening run well on the newer OS types like Win 7 & 8?

yes it runs well on win7 , but i don't know if i am the only one who gets this when trying to take a screenshot ( the screen turns white like it was recently covered with milk or other white stuffs [including s.emen for those who want to make a dirty joke] ) : screen

I've never seen a game produce something like that only in the screen cap. Weird...

Thanks for the info. ^_^

well that happened to me , only with this game

As far as I can say it runs natively on win xp home and pro, and with some patching of the direct X 9 dll's it also runs very well on vista and 7 including the u2xmp.
As for win 8, I haven't gathered any experience through lacking of win 8 XD.

And also the fix to get everything back and working as it should.

No problem, I hope it helped. ;)
I've got it on windows 8. It runs perfectly fine for me.

Cool, have you noticed any anomalies? Like sound stuttering, intro hanging on white screen, sudden crashes, anything? If not, then Mircosoft has patched their dll's again.

I've been and stll am playing the complete unreal series, including Unreal 2 on Windows 8 x64 and havent seen any anomylous activity. All appears to run same as on XP or Vista, etc. Make sure your games are up to date. Youll be a happy camper :)

Runs better actually. Back when I ran the game on my XP, there was this odd texture crash at the last part of that one mission with the Skaarj at the beginning.

It doesn't work on Windows 8 properly or at full screen, keep getting this message.

"Error setting display mode: CreateDevice failed (D3DERR_DRIVERINTERNALERROR). Please delete your Unreal2.ini file if this error prevents you from starting the game.

History: UD3DRenderDevice::UnSetRes <- CreateDevice <- UD3DRenderDevice::SetRes <- UWindowsViewport::TryRenderDevice <- UWindowsViewport::ToggleFullscreen <- UWindowsViewport::Exec <- APlayerController::execConsoleCommand <- UObject::ProcessEvent <- (CodeMonkey Transient.UIConsole0.CodeMonkey1, Function U2.CodeMonkey.SetFullscreen) <- UCheckBox::SetChecked <- (UCheckBox::CheckBox1) <- UCheckBox::Toggle <- (UCheckBox::CheckBox1) <- UMouseCursor::DispatchMouseRelease <- UMouseCursor::MouseRelease_Event <- UUIConsole::KeyEvent <- UEngine::InputEvent <- UWindowsViewport::CauseInputEvent <- UWindowsViewport::UpdateInput <- UViewport::ReadInput <- APlayerController::Tick <- TickAllActors <- ULevel::Tick <- (NetMode=0) <- TickLevel <- UGameEngine::Tick <- UpdateWorld <- MainLoop

I did manage to get onto the game but I don't want to run it in Windowed mode so when I tried to change the setting to full screen the game won't start any more. I have tried deleting the Unreal2.ini file but it doesn't seem to work.
