I have the same issue - running under Win8 x64. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling Quicktime, but no help there.
why do u need QuickTime anyway? I'm not using Apple stuff and I'm fine ;)
Most of my music collection in in M4A format instead of MP3, that's what Quicktime is used for.
Same problem.
My iTunes collection is fairly small, but this is still an issue for me. Apparently, the devs are aware of a problem. But what are the odds that they'll fix it?
same problem here :/
I have found a solution! Try re-installing Audiosurf. That fixed the problem for me.
Windows bork'd itself and had to wipe and reinstall everything - Audiosurf now behaving itself with M4A files.

Unfortunately, don't know if problem was due to the borking, or if there was an update to Audiosurf that fixed the problem. Either way, back up and running! :)
Go to:
C:\Program Files (x86)\QuickTime\QTSystem

Locate QTCF.dll and copy it

Go to:
WhereverYouHaveInstalledSteamClient\SteamApps\common\Audiosurf\engine\3rd

Paste QTCF.dll

Launch Audiosurf and give it a try
did that work for anyone?
It worked for me! Thanks!! :D
i moved a song from itunes into "my music" folder but it still says you need quicktime
