AVG Detected A Trojan?
So I downloaded AVG last night, let it run, came back this morning and tried to play Audosurf, and it wouldn't start. So I validated the game cache and it said that 8 files are missing. As it started getting the files AVG popped up and said this game conttains a Trojan. wut.... Is it actually a Trojan, or what?

Yea, I have no clue. But until I figure out what is going on i'm just deleting the game.

Apparently it's a false positive...

AVG USERS ONLY: go to Options>Advanced Settings>Exceptions>Add Exceptions>Look for where ever you installed steam (most likely in Programs x86 and a folder named steam) Click apply

Found this.

I haven't played in months, today I reboot and AVG reports a trojan in my Audiosurf folder.

It's not actually a Trojan. It's just a false positive, It's AVG's fault.

Same thing is happening to me. Is it safe for sure?

Could be a false positive, could be the real thing. This is a common issue with audiosurf being detected as a trojan, but i would say wait till avg or other malware scanners clear it. Don't add an Exception keeping avg from scanning the folder, that just opens you up to problems(a safe zone for torjans if you will).

everywhere that i've searched says it's a false positive. If you delete Audiosurf and re-install, AVG won't detect it again.

Then delete and reinstall. Creating safe zones is a good way to invite problems.

Also only posts I have found on google are from may - june. Anything from this month are simply people asserting it's a false positive while offering no proof! Again, just sit tight and wait for avg to sort it out, or delete and reinstall.

but how would audiosurf just all of the sudden become a trojan, if it's been out for however long.
Jharsh Sep 3, 2013 @ 11:15pm
additionally, only post on the audiosurf forums is from someone that is having the same problem, but deleting the game did not resolve the issue.

it's called updates magic. Not sure when the last update happened, but it could have a bug, or avg might have just updated to find it. It's also possible, as in likely, it's a fake positive. But this is just a game and not worth the risk! wait for avg to clear it. Till then I'll be deleting the game. Not played it in over a year anyway.

Hmm, I see. The last update was Sept. 13, 2012.

The weird thing is there's tons of people saying it's a false positive and there's tons of people saying wait for AVG to figure it out.

It's been literally a year and AVG hasn't done anything, I find that kind of strange.

AVG was just updated now that I think of it. hmmm.... oh well I'll just let AVG sortit's♥♥♥♥♥♥out until I re-play audiosurf. Sucks though.
